Empty Premises#3 Niddrie, Edinburgh.Scotland. By E-saint

E-saint's first contribution to the joint project; 'Empty Premises', which features 'closed shops' in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany and Edinburgh, Scotland.

"The Rex Launderette in Niddrie, which may have been there for half a century or more. Unfortunately there are grey clouds looming over the future of the building as the local demoliton squad closes in.
The building has featured in a number of local films, including 'Looking out for Jojo' (Robert Carlysle) and the movie interpretation of Irvine Welsh's short stories, 'The Acid House' (Kevin McKidd)." E-saint

Empty Premises#1 Bahnhof Strasse

I'm working on a project with E-Saint from Scotland.. It is entitled 'Empty Premises' and consists of images of 'closed shops' in NRW and Edinburgh; two very different areas of Europe that may have similar economic shortcomings.

Do not go into the Light.....

the blue cast in this image is the colour of the tube lights that make it impossible for intravenous drug users to find a vein. The efficacy of these lights for that purpose has been questioned, with some suggesting that drug users simply find a vein outside the zone of fluorescence and mark the spot with a marker for accessibility when inside the zone of fluorescence. There is currently no published evidence supporting the idea of a deterrent effect.

A Challenge in the Dark

amazing how death wins hands down
amazing how much credence is given to idiot forms of life

amazing how laughter has been drowned out
amazing how viciousness is such a constant

I must soon declare my own war on their war
I must hold to my last piece of ground
I must protect the small space I have made that has allowed me life
